The Polish Cloth- Humble Beginnings

"The polish cloth did not come from an Easter European country. It did not ride the wave of Diaspora like the Polish Sausage or Kielbasa did, only to be enjoyed in restaurants all over the nation.",said the holographic librarian lecture. “Believe it or not, it was created right here in The United States over 90 years ago using a secret formula that helps clean and polish any type of metal. The same thing can be said about the polish hot dog which was developed in Chicago by Polish immigrants hoping to add a little bit of old world flavor to a new world favorite.

I then interrupted the talking hologram and said, "I believe that you may perhaps have you circuits mix up." The representation of the librarian then froze as I tried to explain further, "The term Polish, to identify people who descend from Poland is pronounced with a long "o" sound. This is where the Kielbasa originated from. Then there is the term polish with the short “o” sound which refers to the act of rubbing a piece of metal until it is shiny. The two terms, though spelled the same, are completely different in their meanings.”

I had my doubts that the quad learning processor was still intact, and I had hoped this cleared things up for the four hundred year old system.

"I do not compute, Syntax Error number 4", the hologram asserted before utterly freezing and then rebooted itself. When it came back online, it no longer had any remembrance of me or of our past three months together contained in the subbasement of a destroyed earth. I now became aware that the entire polish cloth enquiry was a failure, but I had to ask if I was ever going to come across the secret formula ever again. I had to understand how silver could be made to shine without damaging it if I was ever going to get back to my era.

Where Did The Polish Cloth Come From?

"The polish cloth did not come from an Easter European country. It did not ride the wave of Diaspora like the Polish Sausage or Kielbasa did, only to be enjoyed in restaurants all over the country.",said the holographic librarian lecture. "The truth is, it was invented here in America over 90 years ago. It was created by using a top secret recipe that would clean and polish almost all kinds of metal. The same thing can be said about the polish hot dog which was introduced in Chicago by Polish immigrants hoping to add a little bit of old world flavor to a new world favorite.

“Umm, I think that your circuits could possibly be mixed up,” I then stated, interrupting the interactive hologram. This triggered the static image of the librarian to freeze as I explained further, “First there is the term Polish with the long “o” sound, which means of Polish descent, which is where the Kielbasa came from. The word polish, which refers to the act of rubbing a piece of metal to bring out the sine is pronounced with a short "o" sound. The two words are what's known as a heteronym, two words that are spelled the same, but have different meanings and pronunciation."

I had my doubts that the quad learning processor was still intact, and I had hoped this cleared things up for the four-hundred year old software.

"I do not compute, Syntax Error number 4", the hologram asserted before totally freezing and then rebooted itself. When it came back online, it no longer had any recollection of me or of our past three months together trapped in the subbasement of a destroyed earth. I now came to the realization that the entire polish cloth enquiry was a failure, but I needed to ask if I was ever going to come across the secret formula ever again. If I was ever going to make it back to my own era, I needed to know how I could make my silver shiny without it getting damaged

Aluminum Polishing Tips

It was a pretty typical Tuesday afternoon for me. We had flown into Belize in “Little Chief” which is a small silver single engine Cherokee airplane that The Boss had specially outfitted for missions of this nature.  When we were not in the southwest corner of the world, the Boss kept “Little Chief” stored away on a rich and powerful friend’s secret hanger on a private island just off the mainland. Well, rich and powerful, The Boss’s friend apparently could not afford to waste any spare aluminum polish on the Chief and the formerly sleek little plane was in dire need of some tender loving care by yours truly.

What had once been shiny aluminum was now faded and gray like something left to waste a away in a desert junkyard somewhere. We need a better polish cloth to clean it I could not wait to get out my special aircraft polishing cloth and return it to something worthy of The Boss’s company logo (which appropriately a fist and a stick of dynamite). Taking care of it, however, would have to wait since the business in Belize was pressing and we had to leave the early the next morning following the requisite welcoming party that the island overlord insisted we attend.

We landed on a small airstrip that had been cut into a clearing of the Jungle and The Boss went to straight to a Jeep, taking Bruno and a couple of local tough guys with him to take care of a problem he was having. I was left with the aircraft with the orders to stand by with the Cherokee in take off position. I was tempted to barter with the other local pilots to see if any of them had some spare aluminum polish and polishing cloth so I could get the plane nice and ship shape, but from the tone of The Boss’s voice, I knew that we would not be here long enough for me to even get started.
